A Musical Synthesis of Synesthesia
*"Synesthizer" Virtual Keyboard Under Maintenance*

Special dual-set exhibition piece developed for Capstone. The composition explores the beautiful connections between visuals and music, through a mental processing condition, synesthesia (in this case, musical tones translating to colors). So sit back, relax and contemplate as the delicate colors of each tone zoom around the screen.
The Synesthizer is designed so the audience can "see" notes played and make music. The installation is not only for viewing purposes, but for an interactive experience as well. You are invited to explore your perceptions of music and draw on how it resonates through your life right here!
Project showcased for the Senior Capstone Collaborative Exhibition and the annual juried New Media Gallery, UNC-Asheville spring 2012.
Custom Original Tick Chart
Before proceeding with the video above, I spelled out the colors I see with each musical pitch and recorded the notes played on piano with their respected color dots onto the platform below. Melody notes ended up showcased in the above animation. Click the right and left arrows to see the entire chart.
